PLAYER: Derek Burns

POSITION: DE/OLB

SCHOOL: Plantation American Heritage

CLASS: 2019

HEIGHT: 6-3

WEIGHT: 215

SCOUTING: From the first time anyone can remember watching him play as a freshman at Archbishop McCarthy, there was never a question of how good this young man can be.

One of the biggest transfers this impressive two-time defending 5A state champions had this off season. Not because of his size and athletic ability, but this is someone who dazzled as a playmaker in his first two-plus seasons at the varsity level.

A dynamic pass rusher who can also play the run equally as well. This is a prospect who can do it all on the defensive side of the ball – because of the fact that he is as athletic as you will find.

In his most recent outing against district rival Cardinal Gibbons, this is someone who was all over the field, chasing the quarterback as well as making a major contribution as a run stopper.
