PLAYER: Sammy Bencid

POSITION: FB/LB

SCHOOL: Miami Coral Park

CLASS: 2019

HEIGHT: 5-11

WEIGHT: 200

SCOUTING: While Coral Park may never be considered as a power on the football field, the Rams have certainly produced plenty of quality athletes through the years.

Last year, Bencid was among the leading tackles for this program - while helping in any way possible. This season, his final one at the high school level, was to be special as this team competed with some young but gifted athletes. What the Rams wanted from their gifted senior was not only to be a defensive force, but someone who could be effective on offense.

On Thursday - in beating Varela handily, it was Bencid who did plenty of damage as a fullback, getting his team in the end zone several times and paving the way for a key win.

What makes him special for this school is his ability to make plays - and as one of the strongest athletes on the team, this state-rated wrestler has given the Rams something to be proud about.

As many athletes across south Florida continue to get the publicity, it’s talented prospects like Sammy who continue to do their job without a lot of fanfare.
