PLAYER: Curt Casteel

SCHOOL: Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas

CLASS: 2019

SCOUTING: Through the years, the love affair that St. Thomas Aquinas has had with the Ivy League is certainly unmatched.

Over a period of five years, the Raiders produced more student/athletes who found their way to this prestigious grouping of northeast schools than any other high program in the country.

When senior quarterback Curt Casteel committed to attend Harvard on Tuesday, it gave this program - so rich in history - yet another talented student/athlete - to boast about.

In Casteel, Harvard is getting a solid quarterback who has the size, arm strength and talent to be very special - and truly someone that is setting himself up for quite a life ahead.

While his football skills have truly been his calling card since bursting on the scene over three years ago, this quality young man also had the opportunity to showcase his impressive work in the classroom - where he also turned heads.

As football is such a priority here in south Florida, when someone also gets it done in the classroom, it is indeed reason to celebrate and brag a little bit.

So, while states such as Georgia, Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania and California want to believe that they rival the Sunshine State on the football field, the classroom is where we also separate ourselves.

Congratulations to Casteel for making the most of his high school career - with one huge season left.
