NFL Teams Preparing Capacity Limits for Fans – If Attending Games is Deemed Safe
There are many unknowns about the upcoming NFL season, including whether or not fans will be allowed into games.
If so, the Baltimore Ravens have put plans in place in place to limit attendance.
The Ravens announced on Wednesday that should state and local government regulations permit fans to attend games during the 2020 season, M&T Bank Stadium will limit capacity to fewer than 14,000 seats per game.
That is roughly 20 percent of M&T Bank Stadium seating capacity of 71,008 fans.
The Kansas City Chiefs also announced a similar plan on Wednesday also announced they have reduced capacity seating, although did not give a specific number to what that may be.
Maximum seating capacity at Arrowhead Stadium is 76,416. If they were to follow the Ravens’ model and make 20 percent of seats available, it would bring the limit to 15,283 seats.
Both the Ravens and Chiefs are also applying credits for season ticket holder funds paid toward the 2020 season to be applied toward next season and refund all single-game purchases.
Both teams have also discontinued the sale of single-game tickets, although the Chiefs said it is “likely” the club will sell tickets for the preseason and “first few games” of the regular season.
Many teams have followed similar protocols regarding season-ticket holders, including the Jets and Giants giving fans the chance to opt out of their plan without losing their seat license for 2021.
