No matter what happened last Friday night at Traz Powell Stadium in Miami, there was no way that either south Florida, state and national powers would lose their respective grip on the top two spots in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

What the classic illustrated was that these two football teams are as good as you get anywhere.

With the final regular season games coming up this weekend, look for more teams to emerge as top 15 teams in one of the hotbeds for high school football talent.

Here is a look at the top 15-plus as we head toward the 11 week:

1. Carol City Chiefs (6A – 8-2). In beating their rival, No. 2 Miami Central, 36-28, head coach Benedict Hyppolite and his football team wrapped up the district title, which in this part of the country, is just about everything! . THIS WEEK: The final regular season game of the season against 8A rival Hialeah American on Thursday at Traz Powell Stadium. NEXT WEEK: The first round of the state playoffs start for the Chiefs.

2. Central Rockets (6A – 8-2). Never giving up until the final whistle, all last Friday’s loss to No. 1 Carol City was – in reality – was the first of two meetings. Nobody in Florida will touch either. Head coach Roland Smith and his team will take the week off. NEXT WEEK: It’s the first round of the state payoffs.

3. St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders (7A – 8-1). With a 58-0 district clinching win over Blanche Ely, head coach Roger Harriott and the Raiders won another title. But more importantly, since the home loss to No. 2 Miami Central, have outscored the opposition, 253-12. THIS WEEK: The annual showdown at Miramar on Friday against the Patriots. NEXT WEEK: It’s the first round of the state payoffs.

4. Columbus Explorers (8A – 10-0). The regular season came to an end with the annual district war against Coral Gables – and head coach Chris Merritt and his team came away with a 36-21 win. Finishing 10-0 – with a victory that was awarded to them from the 35-0 setback to Carol City, the team will take this week off. NEXT WEEK: It’s the first round of the state payoffs.

5. Deerfield Beach Bucks (8A – 9-1). Closing the regular season with another district title, head coach Jevon Glenn and this talented football team will get ready for the playoffs. The 35-0 victory over Piper gave them three straight wins. NEXT WEEK: It’s the first round of the state payoffs.

6. University School Sharks (4A – 9-0). Put this into perspective: In nine games this season, head coach Daniel Luque’s team has outscored the opposition an amazing - . In a 58-0 win at Melbourne Central Catholic, this team dominated, stretch their scoreless quarters to nine quarters and recorded a fourth shutout of the season. THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a home game against defending 3A state champion Chaminade-Madonna on Nov. 2. NEXT WEEK: It’s the first round of the state payoffs.
