It didn't take long for Adam Gase to land a new head coaching gig and he didn't have to leave the AFC East to find it.

Nine days after being fired by the Miami Dolphins, Gase has been hired by the New York Jets. The news was broken by ESPN's Jeff Darlington and Adam Schefter:

Gase finished with a 23 and 26 record in his three seasons with the Dolphins.

The Jets fared worse than the Dolphins in 2018, finishing last in the division at 4 and 12. However, there's one element of the Jets job that Gase should find especially attractive.

In Sam Darnold, New York has a potential franchise quarterback heading into his second season. Gase has the opportunity to develop Darnold in ways he failed to do with Ryan Tannehill.

For South Floridians, Gase to the Jets is extra compelling. He'll face his former team twice per season. Let the games begin!
