Mandatory minicamp is underway for the Miami Dolphins. The team had full participation for voluntary OTA's over the previous two weeks, so the entire roster was ready to hit the ground running.

Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase joined The Joe Rose Show with Zach Krantz to discuss how the free agent signings and draft picks have been meshing with their new teammates.

"I like the way these guys are around each other all the time," Gase said. "These guys are always hanging around each other. I just like the chemistry that these guys are building in that locker room."

So far, the close bond between teammates has not stopped Miami's players from competing hard for every down on the practice field.

"When we go out to practice, it’s competitive," Gase noted. "There’s a lot of chirping and talking. It’s fun to see Bobby (McCain) and Danny (Amendola) go at it." Gase added, with a hint of sarcasm: "I personally don’t try to gas that up at all…”

Rose asked Gase about the Dolphins' rookie class. Fans carry serious expectations for first round safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and second round tight end Mike Gesicki, especially.

“This whole rookie class has done a great job," said Gase. "They’re here early and you see them wandering around late. They’re always trying to find a way to get better, whether they’re hanging around some veteran players or talking to coaches. It’s good to see these guys bring good energy every day. We feel like we have good depth across the board on our roster right now."
