Cardiac Cats Beat Islanders In OT Thriller

So early in the season, it's hard to call anything a "must win game," but last night was pretty close to that for the Florida Panthers. With only one victory in their first seven outings, the Cats desperately needed to take 2 points out of their meeting with the New York Islanders.

Victory seemed highly unlikely when the third period began with the Panthers trailing 2-0. They came alive just in time.

The Panthers got third period goals from Frank Vatrano and Evgenii Dadanov to send the game to Overtime. Just 33 seconds into OT, Mike Hoffman proved decisive.

Hopefully, this can be the start of a winning streak. The Panthers now sit just 3 points above last place in the Atlantic Division. They'll face the New Jersey Devils on the road on Saturday before heading to Finland for a 2-game series with the Winnipeg Jets.

Panthers-Devils will face off at 12 Noon on Saturday. You can listen to the game on 560 WQAM.
