Florida Gators head football coach Dan Mullen joined WQAM's Kevin Rogers live from SEC Media Days.

His Gators will face Manny Diaz' Miami Hurricanes on August 24th to kick off the college football season.

"I think it's a really unique experience for us," said Mullen. "This is the 150th anniversary of college football, and for us to have the opportunity to be the game that kicks the season off is a special honor. To do it against Miami, an in-state rival, in a game that a lot of people are excited to see, is great for us. It's a great honor."

Mullen added: "The opportunity for us to play that game and get that exposure and attention around the country is pretty cool."

Mullen and Miami head coach Manny Diaz have history together. Diaz served as defensive coordinator under (head coach) Mullen at Mississippi State.

"Manny and I are good friends," said Mullen. "He's a great football coach. I know the competitive part is going to come out, so we've cut down on our conversations as we get ready for the game."

The Gators and Hurricanes will square off August 24th in prime time at Orlando's Camping World Stadium.
