The Miami Heat's original center joined The Joe Rose Show on Monday morning to discuss the team's current center.

Rony Seikaly, the Heat's first ever draft pick back in 1988, is very familiar with Hassan Whiteside, going back to his days playing in Lebanon. He still keeps up with the Heat and offered his thoughts on Miami's problematic 98 million-dollar man.

“I think he’s a very very talented athlete," said Seikaly of Whiteside. "He played in my home country of Lebanon before joining the Heat, and I’ve spoken to some of his old teammates. He’s always been an amazing athlete, and obviously he’s in better shape now than he was."

Lot's of talent, BUT...

"I don’t know if he loves the game as much as he should," noted Seikaly, "because he’s just so athletically gifted. If he loved the game a little bit more, I think he would be awesome.”

Can a 'love' for the game be developed, or has that train already left the station for Hassan Whiteside?

You can listen to the full interview with Rony Seikaly on The Joe Rose Show Podcast. Tune in weekday mornings from 6-10am on 560 WQAM.
