Things are heating up with some of South Florida's less-appreciated teams. Consider this an "under the radar" edition of WQAM Headlines.

It's time to start paying attention to Miami Hurricanes Women's basketball. Katie Meier's team is dominating. Within a glorious 11-day span, Miami upset #4 Notre Dame at home and #2 Louisville on the road. It seems criminal that Miami is only ranked #14, but they'll get the chance to make some serious waves in the NCAA tournament. The win at Louisville got coach Meier to 350 career victories.

Canes Baseball is off to a great start. Miami is 4-0 under Gino DiMare, who took over this year for his mentor, Jim Morris. Miami swept Rutgers to open their season, before winning a mid-week affair against FAU. The Canes have out-scored their opponents 46 to 11. Things will get tougher this weekeend when they visit the Gators for a weekend series.

The Florida Panthers are also red hot. The Cardiac Cats have won 3 in a row and 6 of their past 9. They're still 9 points out of a playoff spot, so there's work to do, but they have 24 games left to make up that ground. If they stay hot, it could come down to the wire.

The NFL is in a period of calm, but the storm will start on February 26th when the scouting combine begins. The Miami Dolphins need to hit their evaluations out of the park, and that includes their assessment on Heisman trophy winner Kyler Murray. At the combine, we'll finally find out how tall and how heavy the former Oklahoma quarterback really is. Should the Dolphins take a chance on the under-sized signal caller in the upcoming draft?
