The Miami Dolphins have traded QB Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans, ending the 6 year, 10 month,17 day Tannehill era in Miami.

The Dolphins send Ryan Tannehill and a 2019 6th round pick to Titans for a 4th round pick in 2020 and a 7th round pick in 2019. According to Adam Schefter of  ESPN, Ryan Tannehill restructured his contract with the Titans in order to facilitate the trade. Schefter also tweeted that the Dolphins paid $5M of Ryan Tannehill’s $7M fully guaranteed money in the form of a signing bonus which he said "softened blow for Tennessee."

The restructured deal with Tennessee is a 1-year contract with $7M fully guaranteed, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. Rapoport added that the deal goes to $12M+ with playtime and other incentives. The Dolphins will save $33 million in cap over the next two seasons and are adding a 4th-round pick in 2020.

Tannehill will be expected to back up the Titans current QB Marcus Mariota who was drafted by the Titans second overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. The 4 year starter has however been injury riddled through out his time in Tennessee which may have played into the Titan's decision to trade for Tannehill.

In his seven seasons with Miami, Tannehill finishes with a 42-46 record as a starter earning a total of $67,550,979 according to Spotrac.com. His 123 career touchdowns as a member of the Dolphins ranks him 3rd all time in franchise history behind Griese and Marino.

With Tannehill's trade to Tennessee, the Dolphins QB depth chart now is comprised of Jake Rudolph and Luke Faulk.
