On Tate Martell eligibility situation, “You know we really don’t address it very much. It’s outside of our control, and we don’t play a game in a week or so. It really doesn’t matter. We’re going to find out what we have on our campus. We try to get all of our guys eligible, but certainly the QB position is going to be a very high profile battle. Regardless, we’ll be out there next Tuesday and see what the guys can handle and see what we got.”

On rivalry game against UF to start college football season, “It’s a great rivalry game. It’s year 150 of college football, and what a great way to start it by having the Miami Hurricanes basically open the curtain on the 2019 season. We felt like it was a great deal of exposure. But this is going to be a big game whenever we play. We can play Wednesday night at midnight, it’s going to be a big game anytime Miami and Florida get together. Obviously we want recruits to want to come to Miami to play in games like this and situations like this where you are the big show in town.”

On entire coaching staff meeting with Jimmy Johnson, “We could talk for hours about what I got out of that. I pulled my phone out and was taking notes on my notes app and told Coach Johnson that I’m not texting anyone, I’m literally writing down everything you’re saying because I didn’t want to forget. It was like going up into the mountains to find the guru master. Like going to see Yoda in the cave.”
