With the NFL Draft looming for the Miami Dolphins, the suspense continues to grow as to what the direction the team will go in with their eleventh overall pick.

Several mock drafts have the Dolphins trading up for a quarterback like Baker Mayfield, who Adam Gase has been very candid about his interest in. Drafting a quarterback is something several analyst have suggested the Dolphins do with Tannehill being 30 years old now and coming off an ACL surgery. Others have the Dolphins beefing up the defensive line with Washington Nose tackle Vita Vea to replace Ndamukong Suh.

However, when Joe Rose and Zach Krantz asked NFL Network Analyst Mike Mayock who he though would fit best, his choice was Virginia Tech outside linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.

“You’ve got (Cameron) Wake at 36, who continues to defy his age, but I believe this guy could kick down in a 3 point stance and even come off the edge; I think he’s a special player.” Mayock said. “We talk about freaks, but he’s truly unique because in addition to being an off the ball linebacker, he can also rush the passer.”

The Dolphins had the 26th ranked defense in sacks last season as well as the 29th ranked in takeaways and Mayock feels Edmunds could give the defense new life.

“They only took the ball away 19 times , it’s not enough and they’re not pressuring the quarterback enough either, so you have to get someone who can make a difference on defense and I really love the Edmunds kid from Virginia Tech. If he was there, I think he’s a guy that could make a difference and you could build around him.” Mayock said on the Joe Rose show.

Edmunds (6’5 255) is projected to be a Top 12 pick by most Mock Drafts and some have him going as early as ten to the Oakland Raiders.
