CLASS: 2021

SCOUTING: The one thing that we have always attempted to do – when it comes to promoting football prospects – is to include everyone in the process.

No matter if you are a major Power 5 recruit, or any athlete who is trying to grab the attention of a small school, our objective is to give these young men a forum.

The one position that we have really been behind are special teams performers – and that is where we land today – with a tremendous All-State kicker who has established himself as one of the best around.

While this has become an area that is producing kicking specialists that continue to grab the spotlight, Cannon has been one of the more steady special teams performers, who has worked on his craft, showcasing tremendous accuracy and a strong leg.

What makes John Cannon so special is his ability to come through when the Sharks need him – as we saw last year, leading this program to within one point of making it to the 4A state title game.

“You never like to say someone is automatic, but John is one of those young men who you never have to worry about,” University School head coach Daniel Luque explained. “He is such a vital part of our team, and this school, where he is an amazing student in the classroom, setting himself up for a very bright future.”

With the Sharks now welcoming defending 5A state champion and perennial powerhouse Miami Carol City into a region that already has Miami Monsignor Pace, Miami Gulliver Prep and Miami Booker T. Washington in it, look for Cannon to be a huge weapon in 2019 and again in 2020!
