WEEK 8 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE: This Is When All The Hard Work Will Start To Pay Off

If you have been following this exciting high school football season, you already know that every game counts.

With just a few weeks left in the 2019 regular season, this coming week will really start to heat up – and those programs who continue to work hard and come up with that one play that could end up making the difference – will move on.

What all these coaches and players have worked so hard for in the off season will soon pay off.

District titles and playoff positions will most definitely make the coming week worth attending a game in your area.

While every game will count this coming week, there are five matchups that jump out at you – just a little more than the rest.

If these contests happen to be in your community, make it a point to get there. You will most certainly see great players and teams:

Christopher Columbus at No. 11 University School, 7. This is one of those Friday games that everyone has been looking forward to from both schools. It is truly a contest that pits two of the hottest teams around, and will answer questions about both programs, heading into the playoffs. First year Head Coach Dave Dunn has his talented program ready to go – and we already know that Coach Daniel Luque and his staff would like nothing better than posting a win against an 8A team.

No. 15 Gulliver Prep at North Palm Beach Benjamin, 7. The Raiders are for real, and will have a chance to prove that on the road on Friday against a team that has talent. A win will keep head coach Earl Sims and his team in the spotlight as the playoffs are just weeks away.

Goleman at Dr. Krop (Goleman High), Friday, 3:30. They are both independent programs this year – and each team has answered every challenge as the Gators and head coach Ariel Cribeiro and his 6-0 team are certainly up for this meeting with a Lightning squad that is also unbeaten (6-0) under second year head coach Tommy Caporale. This is indeed one of those Friday games that is great for both schools and programs.

McArthur at No. 12 Cardinal Gibbons, 7. After losing to Plantation American Heritage last week, head coach Matt Dubuc and his Chiefs are anxious to get back to it against a quality opponent. For the Mustangs and head coach Pierre Senatus, it’s all about momentum and continue making that push toward the playoffs. This has a chance to be a very good game on Friday.

No. 14 Plantation at No. 1 St. Thomas Aquinas, 7. This is for the district title, and nobody knows about big games more than head coach Roger Harriott and his nationally rated Raiders. While the Colonels and head coach Steve Davis know what’s at stake, it will take a complete performance and mistake free game on Friday to come out on top.
