South Florida Gets The 2019 Football Season Started With Games Today

If you have followed high school football over the years, you already know that when it comes to scheduling, you already know that there is a push to compete against the best out there.

All the top programs, who want to win a national title, now understands that to achieve that goal, you need to step up your schedule, and that will be evident in the first week of 2019.

This first week will showcase some quality games that could have a bearing on who is on line to win a national title.

The Annual Miami-Dade vs. Broward Challenge will take place on Friday night – when No. 9 and defending 5A state champion Cardinal Gibbons travels to Traz Powell Stadium to take on No. 3 and two-time defending 6A state champion Miami Northwestern at 7:30.

The second game of the challenge will take place on Saturday at Traz Powell – when No. 5 Deerfield Beach squares off with No. 4 Carol City at 4 in an ESPN televised game.

Also at Traz Powell Stadium – on a national broadcast, but not part of the Dade-Broward Challenge is area No. 1 Miami Central taking on nationally rated St. Frances of Maryland at 12 Noon.

The night before, No. 2 St. Thomas Aquinas will travel across country for a matchup with Concord De La Salle in California. The longtime national power is once again very impressive, but so are the Raiders.

Also on Friday night, a real Hollywood battle will open the season as No. 10 Chaminade-Madonna, the two-time defending 3A state champions, travel down the road to play exciting and talented No. 13 McArthur.
