South Florida Kickoff Classic Highlights Pre-Season Games

With one week away from the start of the 2019 high school football season, kickoff classics highlight this week’s play.

As programs from across Miami-Dade and Broward County tune-up for the upcoming season, there are some quality match-ups from Wednesday through Saturday.

The spotlight event will be held on Saturday – when the First Annual South Florida Kickoff will be held on Saturday at Traz Powell Stadium in Miami.

In the first game, the 8A powerhouse Apopka Blue Darters make a rare south Florida appearance when they will take on nationally recognized Miami Booker T. Washington, which has another quality program. That meeting will take place at 4 p.m.

The second game of the doubleheader will feature Atlanta’s 2A state champion Cedar Grove against national power and Florida’s top team – Miami Central at 7:30.

In addition to that Saturday matchup, there are some other interesting games.

On Thursday night (7:00) two of the top 10 teams in Florida will clash when Miami Palmetto travels to 8A foe Davie Western.

That is a game that many who follow high school football feel could be a south region final in December. Both programs are loaded with quality talent.

Another Thursday game will see two very impressive programs when Deerfield Beach (8A) travels to play 7A power Delray Beach Atlantic. Both teams are stacked with talent and this will provide a stellar matchup.
