South Florida Class of 2022 football players are making some headlines

Local Class of 2022 Football Standouts Receiving Well Deserved Attention

It may be February, but that does not mean football prospects shouldn’t be on college radar screens.

Since we have been promoting football talent for many decades, the one thing that has been our main objective is getting every student/athlete out there for college coaches and recruiting services to see.

Having the opportunity to watch so many athletes play live comes the chance to uncover and evaluate talent that many just do not have the chance to see – other than the same videos that everyone watches.

High school football in south Florida has become such a year-round deal that the attention never fades, and that’s why every athlete gets an opportunity to gain exposure.

Like we do year-round – especially during the off season – we spotlight as many prospects as we can.

Here is a look at some for this week in the Class of 2022:

Belizaire Bassette II, DE/DL, Plantation American Heritage. After spending this past season at Monsignor Pace, this quality football talent makes the move to play for head coach Pat Surtain and the Patriots – and he brings plenty of talent with him. While he still has a lot to learn, his upside is simply tremendous.

Bakari Edwards, DE/TE, Miami Gulliver Prep. Yet another of the versatile football players this program has. Whether it’s on the defensive side of the ball – or on offense, he figures to make a major impact for head coach Earl Sims and this football team in 2020.

Jamaal Johnson, DE/DT, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna. What head coach Dameon Jones and his three-time defending 3A state champions have been able to do over the past four season is develop versatile playmakers, and that’s what they have done with this quality young man who is going to make a huge impact once again in 2020.

Nyjalik Kelly, DE, Fort Lauderdale Dillard. If you are looking for reasons why this program finished 11-1 this past season, here is certainly a huge talent that the Panthers and head coach Eddie Fraser have been developing for decades. Big time pass rusher, who showed everyone who had not watched him play before at last weekend’s Rivals Camp, that he is indeed a prospect for the future – as well as the 2020 season.

Shanard Lo-Ray, DE/TE, Coconut Creek Monarch. This is a program that may not have established itself as a power, but if you look at the players that come out of head coach Dante Lombardi’s football team, you will see some elite players like this young man who is easily one of the top players in south Florida. The Knights will be a force as long as athletes like this continue to come through the doors in Coconut Creek.

Shayon Walton,WR, Hialeah Champagnat Catholic. For this program that continues to get to the highest level, having talent like this young man is the reason why head coach Hector Clavijo and the Lions are among the best 2A programs every year. His ability to make plays will keep him in another rather bright spotlight – as the football team goes for an amazing fifth straight trip to the state finals.
