Mark Richt: No More Maturity Issues at QB, Canes Primed with King Under Center

The Joe Rose Show with Zach Krantz: Quarantine Day 115

The Miami Hurricanes will kick off the 2020 season in just over 24 hours when they host UAB at Hard Rock Stadium.  The most intriguing player to watch for the Hurricanes will unquestionably be their talented transfer Quarterback D’Eriq King.

King is expected to burst onto the scene in Miami and produce a monster year under first-year offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee.  Former Hurricanes coach Mark Richt, who now works for the ACC Network, joined The Joe Rose Show Wednesday morning.

Richt had a tough run of QBs during his time at Miami and had this to say about King.

“It looks like they have a quarterback that is mature enough and talented enough to help get them where they want to go this season,” said Richt, who continued later. “I don’t think Miami had a QB talent issue, we had a QB maturity issue.”

There is a lot riding on the shoulders of King and Coach Diaz as the Canes kick off the 2020 season as they try and bounce back and erase a tough 2019.  As far as being patient...

“It’s going to take some patience by everybody," said Richt. "The fan base just needs to understand that some things take time.”
